Hello All! After a long blogging hiatus, WE'RE BACK! Now that the baby is nearly four months, life is returning to a semblance of normalcy. Along with myself (Sarah), we will be inviting a few other voices to blog on the site- it should keep things fresh and new for all of you readers out there.
There is a lot to share.....I'll start with some recent snapshots and work backwards.
Freddy's catch last week at the boca in Garza:

Cracking our first almonds:
We spent last weekend with some local friends, Fabio and Amelia, and their daughters, on Playa Pelada.

Travelling with different friends adds a new dimension to our lives....I would have never tried to crack open these seemingly old husky shells lying amidst the driftwood and leaves on the beach- much to our surprise, delicious almonds were hidden inside!

We learned to shake the seeds- if you can feel or hear a small 'bead' inside, you've got yourself an almond. The trick is not to smash them entirely- you must break it hard enough to crack apart the shell, but gently enough to preserve the nut inside (I ended up with almond dust most of the time)...

Kemper and her friends, Michelle & Sugey, searching for treasure on Playa Pelada:

Poor guy has a lot of baggage:

New garden:
Although it is not the prime season for planted, Erik and I were tired of looking at the dirt in our yard. We planted about 100 new trees, shrubs, and flowering plants last week. We make sure to give them plenty of water in the early morning and late afternoon- so far everything is thriving. Our banana palms, now stubs, are already sprouting new shoots. Our aloe vera plant has two new children, and our lime tree already is producing fruit! We are looking forward to the rain, for our plants' sake.
