Hi All,
We will be visting Nosara over the 4th of July this year. We have been traveling to Costa for many years but this will be our first trip to Nosara. I have a couple of questions and it would be greatly appreciated for any response.
My question: What is the realistic drive time to San Jose Airport? I have heard anywhere from 4 to 6.5 hrs. We have a 12:30 pm flight out of San Jose on the way back so what time would we need to leave to be at the airport with plenty of time to check in.
- We plan on doing some fishing while we are there. Any insight into which quides to use would be great. Also, I notice a river mouth close by. Is it worth it to bring my own fishing gear to fish from the beach and maybe along the river? If so, what can be expected to catch? Roosters? Any Snook around there? Tarpon? Also, any insight into what gear/lures to bring would be great!
Again thanks for the insight!
Tim
Brandon,
Thanks quick response and info. I have an email into Dan and will get one out to Ryan once we get a little closer. I will make sure they know you pointed me in their direction.
Just to clarify, we definitely want to do a fishing Charter or two. But I was also wondering if I bring my own fishing gear if there is any fishing from the shore that I can do on my own. When I am down in the Osa Peninsula area this is possible and catch Roosters from the beach.
Thanks,
Tim
Hey Tim, I do this same trip fairly often as I travel back to Gainesville to visit family. Jetblue is definitely the way to go. Their flights are very comfortable and it only adds an hour and a half or so to your drive now that the new highway is open.
Driving will be your best bet from San Jose to Nosara. You can rent a car and drive but if time is of the essence and you don't need a car while you're in Nosara I would use a shuttle service. You can contact Dan at limodan10@hotmail.com for a price on a shuttle. He will get you from San Jose to Nosara in about 4 hours with the new road. He has very comfortable cars and will get you there quickly and painlessly. Highly recommended.
In regards to fishing, we fish a lot with Ryan Bombard from Agua Azul Charters. You can contact him at aguaazulcharters@gmail.com for information on availability. I would do that soon as he books up for busy weeks like that one. Tell him I sent you and he will take you to the secret spots! Ask Ryan what lures to bring, but the boats here are typically pretty equipped.
Let me know if you need any more information... shoot me an email at brandon@surfingnosara.com if so.
