Lagarta Lodge

The Lagarta Lodge is situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views up the uninhabited beach leading to Ostional. Gazing over the private Nature Preserve provides spectacular views of the river mouth, surrounding jungle, and mountain range beyond. One can easily become mesmerized watching exotic birds soaring overhead. Majestic sunsets make Lagarta Lodge the perfect place to end the day. Lagarta Lodge is situated on the Pacific coast midway down the Nicoya Peninsula, high above the Ocean, set within a 90 acres Nature Preserve containing lush jungle, dense Mangrove, and all manner of wildlife.

The entrance to the preserve, which the guests can explore on their own, is located adjacent to the hotel. The white sand beach of Pelada is a 15 minute walk from the Lodge. Just beyond Pelada Beach is the popular surfing beach of Guiones (10 min. drive). Head in the other direction and one will find Playa Ostional, the famous nesting ground of the Olive Ridley sea turtle. Lagarta Lodge terraced setting allows the guests to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from a variety of locations that ensure one can find the perfect spot. The pool and its deck chairs are tucked among shade giving palm trees located next to the ocean-view terrace. A delicious breakfast buffet is served in the semi-openair restaurant overlooking the Paciific. For lunch & dinner there is a wide à-la-carte choice including house specialties of fresh fish and many other seafood as well as an excellent wine selection. The Sunset Bar serves an assortment of specialty cocktails and appetizers and its idyllic location make it the ideal spot for enjoying the sunset. The Nature Preserve is accessible directly from Lagarta Lodge. It is adjacent to the mouth of the Nosara river and contains a labyrinth of walking paths that lead one through mangroves and other local vegetation. There are over 270 species of birds in the area and howler monkeys as well as iguanas and coatimundis are frequently seen on the 2-hour tour.

The six standard rooms are nicely decorated and reflect the warm ambiance of the lodge. Each room has a bathroom, a queen size and one or two single beds, fan, a terrace or balcony and ocean view. The six large (up to 50m2 big) superior rooms are elegant and comfortable with floor to ceiling windows capturing panoramic views of the Pacific, the jungle and the mountains. The modern bathrooms offer a spa like setting with spectacular views. Superior rooms have either 2 queen size beds or one king size bed, fans, air conditioning, refrigerator, safe, hairdryer and internet. Rocking chairs and ocean view balconies complete the tranquil setting. Children age 9 and up are welcome in the Superior rooms.
