Café de Paris Restaurant at Guiones Costa Rica

One of the first cafés in the Nosara area, Café du Paris, is still the go-to spot for fresh-baked breads that would make any Parisian flush with envy. Located in the Café du Paris resort complex at the top of the main road running through Guiones, the Café du Paris restaurant is a poolside oasis great for a relaxing breakfast or lunch retreat. The café is a few doors down from our own spot here at Surfing Nosara, and all of the Surfing Nosara crew has eaten at this French-influenced patisserie many times

Pizzas baked on a thin crust seem to be a Costa Rican specialty, and there are about a dozen places to grab a pizza in the Nosara area – but Café du Paris is the only place that gives you a buy one, get one half off deal on their pizzas. The menu offers casados as well as a diverse amount of regional dishes for about seven to fifteen dollars.

Café du Paris is the first restaurant on the main road in downtown Guiones, and it is the first building you see when you drive into Guiones from Nosara – but the cool part about Café du Paris is that you don’t really see much of it at all from the road. The restaurant on the Café du Paris grounds is nestled into the resort complex and sits right next to their swimming pool and one of the few basketball courts in the whole Nosara area. Since Café du Paris is so close to our offices at Surfing Nosara, we are thinking about resolving inter-office disputes (and arguments about who is the best overall surfer) with a not-so-friendly game of hoops. Given the intensity and frequency of our Surfing Nosara battles, one of us will probably be ready to play on the Costa Rican Olympic basketball team in a few months.
