Only a handful of restaurants populate the G section of Guiones, but these few dining spots make up for their lack of number with high quality and sterling service.  Surfing Nosara loves the fact that we have so many food options near our office in the downtown loop of Guiones and along the main beach road, and many of these places are among our favorite places to eat in all of the Nosara area. However, Giardino Tropical – located right at the front of the third Guiones loop – might have the best focaccia and carpachio in the entire known universe.

Giardino Tropical is a restaurant and hotel complex, just like so many other excellent dining options in the Nosara area.  This means that the cozy restaurant area usually has great food and a great view.  In the case of Giardino Tropical, the other main attraction is the wood-fired oven.  Surfing Nosara site visitors have repeatedly mentioned the crisp focaccia and pizzas at Giardino as among the best food items they have experienced on any of their Costa Rica excursions, and one of the main reasons for this is the high quality baking routinely produced by the traditional oven.

Another large reasoning for the great food at Giardino Tropical has to be the work of the two highly- skilled chefs, Kike and ___.  These capable food artisans produce plates of delicious pastas for around ten dollars and pizzas that range from ten to twenty dollars – and if you get the twenty dollar option, be prepared for a taste of every topping you can imagine baked onto a crunchy thin crust.  The focaccia is about two dollars, while the carpachio runs about six – order both and enjoy a sumptuous tapas dish for three or four people.   The thin slices of fresh fish are seasoned in an olive oil, garlic and pepper mixture and healthy slices of tomato and avocado ring the serving dish.  Grab a slice of the warm, crispy focaccia and add the carpachio on top of the fresh-baked garlic that adorns the famous Italian bread dish.  

Surfing Nosara family and friends all have to try the focaccia and carpachio at least once a visit, and the seafood and pasta specials at Giardino Tropical ensure that everyone in your group will find something on the menu to please their personal Italian sensibilities.  The historic third loop of Guiones is scattered with places to stay and play, but having Giardino Tropical makes it a place to dine as well.
