Palo Verde National Park encompasses one of the most important wetlands of Central America. Throughout the year the rivers, mangroves, marshlands of resident and migrant water birds sharing their world of land and water are animals such as white tailed deer, coyote, white nosed coatimundi, howler and white faced monkey, iguanas and crocodiles.
Once of the easiest and most rewarding ways to explore Palo Verde is by covered pontoon boat on the Tempisque River which borders the National Park.
The tour passes through a wide variety of habitats, including pastureland and mangroves. Wildlife is plentiful from tiny hummingbirds feeding at heliconia flowers, to huge and flamboyant pink Roseate Spoonbills.
