I am thinking about buying Real Estate in Nosara, what is the water situation?
Questions about water in Nosara remain among the most common questions for both the Nosara newbie and the well seasoned Nosara native as water is on the top of everyone's mind these days worldwide.
The public water in Nosara is handled by the Nosara ASADA, a group of dedicated Nosara locals that are in charge of providing the infrastructure for the water system that our community uses for all of our water needs. Their building is a few hundred meters after five corners and before you get to the bomba on the way out to Nosara Proper.
When building a home in Nosara your water costs will include an impact fee of $350 to $500 depending on your lot size. This is after you have been approved for your water, which will happen after you present all of your building plans, permits and fill out the proper paperwork. This is typically done by your architect or project management company upon submitting the plans for your construction.
You will also pay the cost of bringing water to your lot from the nearest water connection. This is typically not very expensive unless your lot is very far away from any neighboring water.
Once your house is built and you are using water your cost will be a flat rate of around 20,000 colones (around $37USD) for the first 15 cubic meters and about $.50USD for each cubic meter after that. A normal family will not typically go over the base cost unless watering the lawn or doing other high consumption activities. The most expensive water bill I have paid here was around $50USD.
