Last week, on November 19th, members from the Surfing Nosara Foundation visited three local area schools – Las Delicias, Esperanza and Garza to follow up on the Proyecto Limpieza.
All three schools have been very active in the project. At Las Delicias, the children have planted a garden in the school. At Garza, all the children drew pictures of how to keep the environment clean. And, at Esperanza, when we pulled up, they were raking the leaves and collecting trash! What a great site to see …progress right before our eyes! The children at Esperanza have also been organizing weekly beach and schoolyard clean-ups. These kids are really making a difference and we couldn't be more excited about the progess that all three schools have made!
Next week, we are going to check in with the rest of the schools around town to see what projects they have provoked. In December, we look forward to rewarding the schools with the trash bins. Then, in January, we have a group of college students coming down to paint the trashcans So, at the moment, we are looking for donations of paint and painting supplies. If you are interested in helping out please shoot us an email at info@surfingnosara.com. Also, if you bring down supplies we will take you out to the schools to distribute them. For more information and/or ideas on what to bring, please visit our Wish List - http://www.surfingnosara.com/surfing-nosara-foundation/project-wishlist
A huge thank you to Sarah Antonson, Alfonso Prado, Becky (an English woman on vacation who brought school supplies), Ross and Sue of www.CFLSurf.com who also brought supplies and, of course, to the crew from Innocent surf school for sponsoring the bins.
