Sunday July 31st - A little inconsistent but good size out there

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

Good Morning Everyone,

This Sunday morning is a bit overcast weather wise with some rain clouds offshore & a bit of a haze at the beach... The great news is there is definitely surf out there & the sets are pretty big & strong. Nice to see several of them lining up & not the perennial closeouts we have been getting so often lately when there are competing swells in the water. The water definitely still has some warble to it, but each set I saw pass through had at least 2 lined up sections with some juice to it. Check out the picture of Headstand Dennis paddling out with a set wave coming through for some perspective on size. It is hard to tell how big it is from the beach sometimes. Get out there quick though as anyone's guess what the wind & surface conditions are going to do with all of these clouds around right now.

Have a great Sunday,
Rich

July 30th - Swell dropped...waist to chest high sections at low tide

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

James here updating Ryan's report with some photos. I think it's a little bigger than Ryan was calling it. Almost the head high range and smaller. I saw a couple of small tubes and shampoos. We have tons of good photos of everyone on the beach today, family and schools and some folks in the green water. Swing by the office to browse all our photos. Below is the early report by Ryan, thanks!.........

Good morning folks and welcome to the weekend! We have an overcast morning here in Guiones, but good news is that there is still surf. The big swell that we had the last couple days has dropped off and is now running in the waist to maybe shoulder high range on the sets. The conditions are pretty glassy as of report time, but it is a little bit sectiony and closing out with the dead low tide right now. There are still some fun little sections to grab though. The sets seem to be a few and far between so you might have to wait for a while. Things should improve as the tide starts to come in. Tomorrow looks like it will be a little bit better with longer period swell and more power in the water.

Make sure to check back with us in a bit for the updated photo report from James and a video coming from Hanzel as well. If you're in town, swing by the office and check out the photos and videos on the big screen while you hang out on the couch! If you need anything from us or have any questions about vacation rentals for next season, buying or building your dream home or any general Nosara area questions feel free to email us at info@surfingnosara.com...we'd love to hear from you!

Pura vida,
Ryan

July 28th - Photo update Swell Peaking Today, Way overhead on sets

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

James here updating Erik's report. Today is a great day too....Run on the beach. Walk your dog. Fly a kite. Play tractors with your kids. Pull your kids on a boogie board. Play paddle ball. Build a sand castle. Read a book. Get a tan. But not surf. Maybe later this afternoon. I'll leave one of the cam photos up from this morning. Below is Erik's early report........Good morning folks... Surf is running way overhead this morning in Guiones as today is the peak of the swell. It should grow through the high tide this morning and be double overhead on the sets out front. Yesterday I was surprised how quickly the swell grew from 8-10am. There was a 20 minute pulse around 9:30 that cleaned up most of the lineup. I was out the back but after getting a wave, didn't even want to deal with the paddle. Luigi told me he had a solid 20 minute paddle, and that guy is a fish. Hopefully more water with the incoming tide will give us some more shoulders.

Today, as the surf is running so large, I zoomed out the cam to give a wider perspective. It is the way that I prefer to check it when it is big as I think you can get a better idea of where to surf, rips and overall water movement. Let us know if you like it... I will change it back when the swell starts to drop.

Have a good day... E

Tuesday, July 26th Early Report - Small Early But Swell On The Way

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

Good Morning Everyone, James here updating Rich's report with some photos. Small glassy surf today, lot's of kids, long boards and surf school photos, so swing in the office next to banco popular to browse all the photos we have of you! Get them before you leave town! Thanks..... Below is Rich's early report.......

Early this morning the surf is pretty small running the in waist to stomach high range with a bit of a side shore wind making conditions not quite as clean & glassy as past several days... The very good news is we have a swell arriving possibly as early as later today & things should really be improving over next couple of days size wise. Now let's just hope the weather cooperates wind & rain wise as the swell direction & size should be pretty good for us here in Guiones.

James will be in later today with updated photos from this morning's action so check back in a couple hours.

Take care,
Rich
