May 30th - Swell still here, Sun is out!

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

This is James with the late report update, after taking my dog to the vet from a snake bite I was finally on the beach around 9:00. Waves super choppy in the way overhead range but that didn't stop a few folks from giving it a go, and the surf schools were out in the white water. Swing by the office next to banco popular and take your photos home today. Thanks. Read below for Erik's report & to see all the updated photos.

Good morning folks! Shots are from the live cam(http://www.surfingnosara.com/live-nosara-cam) this morning as we are a one car family and I have to Kemper to school here in a few. What is making me happy this morning is that a week or so ago I adjusted the while balance on our cam to reflect the dismal weather we have been having, and today the sun is blowing out the photos pretty good. Means it is sunny at the beach!

Swell is 3.5ft at 19 seconds right now, which is pretty much thumping! Direction is 196 meaning some points South will be insane huge. Guiones is a few feet overhead, and the fun will really depend on the conditions.

Today is Memorial Day, and I just want to say thanks to all the heros that have fought for the freedoms of the rest of us.  I am reading With the Old Breed right now, a book about the battle in the Pacific during WW2 and what those guys went through was incredible.  All so we can surf and take life for granted.  Makes you think a bit.

Enjoy your freedom!  E

May 29th Late Report - Beautiful day with fun surf earlier, but onshore and high tide now

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

Good afternoon folks! This morning brought one of the best sessions we have had in the last week or so, and it is a beautiful, blue sky Sunday.....just a great beach day all around! This morning the surf was in the head high range and a little lumpy, but with pretty clean faces and nice sections lining up. You had to be in the right spot, and if you were it was super fun! That being said, these photos are from around noon, with dead high tide and onshore wind...but it still looks fun actually! There are some sections and the mushy faces are lining up, making for some pretty ripable waves. The wind is on it pretty hard though, but if it slacks up a bit, this evening's sunset session could get really fun with the lower tide. I surfed yesterday afternoon for a few hours and it was chunky and a lot of paddling, but there were definitely some fun sections to be had. We could be looking at similar conditions today.

If you folks need anything from us, are looking to book your next vacation rental for the upcoming summer months or have any general questions about Nosara, drop us a line at info@surfingnosara.com. We'd love to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

May 26th - Rainy season settling in... Waist to Chest High Surf... Fea!

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

Good Rainy Morning Folks... The rainy season had to settle in sometime and it appears that it did this week. Really, we should all be stoked that May has been so nice. If you flip through the archives http://www.surfingnosara.com/search/node/may%20surf%20report%20rain you can see that May is usually pretty brutal. Right behind September and October for me as the month we shoot for traveling. This year though, we had about 20 days of pretty OK weather and decent surf.

With all the rain we have had in the last few days, I will now take a few days off especially after the really hard one that we had last night. My line of thought is that chemicals and dirt and whatever build up all dry season and then with the first real big rains when the rivers finally wash through I suspect we have some pretty dirty water for a few days. I remember my first years here everyone getting some sort of gripe (sick) right after the rains. That being said, if the surf starts to fire there is little I can do to stay away and I will probably go and just wash out my ears with H2O2 or alcohol. With the rain keeping us out of the water this morning, here are a few fun things to do to kill some time.

1. Watch the live video for the moment that the rain stops and the wind switches offshore. http://www.surfingnosara.com/live-nosara-cam

2. Watch all of our rental home videos to see what home you would like to rent for your next vacation. http://www.surfingnosara.com/nosara-vacations/nosara-rental-homes

3. Browse and daydream about buying your lot or home here, then email us at info@surfingnosara.com

May 25th - Waist high and pretty bad

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

Late report update, Weak waist high waves, but we have hopefully a swell coming tomorrow and the rest of the week, check our future forecast for details. Swing by the office next to banco popular to browse all your photos, we are in the office until 4, get them before you leave town, thanks! Below is the early report.

Buenos dias from Guiones! Surf today out back is looking pretty poor. It is about waist high and mushy with the tide still coming in. The wind is also very light onshore so that is not helping things. If you are in the right spot and have the correct small wave equipment, then you can get a decent ride with a couple turns. The afternoon might be the better call today during the dropping tide, if the wind doesn't come onshore to hard that is.

We are expecting to see the swell start to bump up a little bit tomorrow, and are really counting on that. Hopefully, this will be the worst conditions for a little while. Either way, if you want to go out, get wet and paddle into a few, go for it and make the best!

If you have any questions for us or are looking to book your vacation rental for this summer, drop us a line at info@surfingnosara.com. Have a great one!

May 24th Late report update-messy fun

Nosara Costa Rica Surf Report

This is James with the late report update. Waves in the shoulder range messy but fun. Lots of good local surfing in the water today ripping it up having a blast. Swing by the office to browse all of today's photos. Try to get them before you leave town. We are usually in the office until 4:00pm and we like to have a day off on Sunday, so get them before you leave, thanks. Read below for the early report.

Good Morning Everyone,
Here is your dawn patrol report as of 6am: Last night's rain is not doing us any favors at all with the surf this morning. We're looking at waist to chest high surf with overall fair to poor form, lumpy conditions, on to side shore winds already at report time & a high tide approaching in a couple hours at 8:05 am. These might actually improve a bit as the clouds roll & away & sun comes out. Photos are from the Live Cam so to get a real time update check that to see what the morning brings. James will be in late morning with the quality photos of all this morning's surf action. Hopefully this morning sickness goes away & we can squeeze out a fun session a little bit later. It should get better over next couple hours... But sleep in if you're checking this early. We'll keep you posted as always so check back in a little while for updates.

***June 19th to 26th professional surfer Serena Brooke is going to be in Nosara hosting a Surf Stronger Performance Camp with Safari Surf School.
