July 8th, 2018, it was another great year for Sabor de Nosara. We had great weather and a fantastic turnout! It was amazing to see all the restaurants, businesses, residents and visitors that supported this tremendous event. With that, we support the Nosara Security Association and the Nosara Bomberos (i.e. Fire Department). After months of preparation, the event went very smoothly. We owe special thanks to the group of volunteers who worked very hard to make it happen. Read on to learn more about this event and the groups that it supports.
Nosara has seen significant growth over the past several years. The steady growth has brought conveniences including local shops, restaurants, yoga spas, boutique hotels, surf schools and everything that an active family needs to enjoy an amazing vacation or to transition to Costa Rica lifestyle. Although we still live in the jungle down a dirt road, we count ourselves fortunate to enjoy the fruits of Nosara and our surrounding beaches.
For a few years, Sabor de Nosara has been a great way to bring the community together to support the security association and the bomberos. Several of the local restaurants come to share a taste of their food, drink and/or deserts. Locals and visitors can get a chance to sample the tastes of Nosara with over 80% of the restaurants represented. Not to mention, along the way you can mingle and discuss your latest adventures with friends.
Every so often nature lets us know we are merely guests on this amazing planet. Last rainy season we had an enormous amount of rain in a four-day period. The underlying reason was a combination of tropical moisture and an east coast tropical depression. The heavy rainfall it brought caused the Ostional and the Nosara river to rise dramatically. In times like these, we are extra fortunate to have the Nosara Bomberos to help provide water rescues, tree removal, animal relocation and general assistance to the local community. After the storm event, Surfing Nosara staff supported the Nosara Food Bank by delivering food and clothing to families that were flooded during the storm.
The money raised by Sabor de Nosara will directly flow back to make our community better, stronger, and safer. We owe a big thank you to all the volunteers, local restaurants, visitors and locals that came out to the event.
We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
