Puerto Jimenez is a relatively new town on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica being only about a hundred years old It is also the largest town there with about 2 000 inhabitants It is located on the inner portion of the Os a Peninsula fronting the Golfo Dulce or Sweet Gulf It s an interesting town a mangrove estuary called Quebrada Cacao runs through the middle of it Puerto Jimenez Costa Rica beachfront properties look out over Golfo Dulce and any sailing craft or fishing boats that might be plying on the crystal blue water Residents can rent kayaks and explore the estuary and see crocodiles river otters monkeys and all sorts of other wildlife
The quickest way to get to Port Jim as it is called by tourists is to take a commuter flight to the airport there A road does run all the way along the peninsula so it is possible to get from town to town Ferries also go across the gulf to Golfito the region s unofficial capital Puerto Jimenez Costa Rica beachfront properties are occupied by folks who love living in a place where they can go for a walk and spot scarlet macaws on a regular basis This town is also right next to Corcovado National Park There are plenty of tourist services here
