About Nosara, Costa Rica

Nosara, originally a small farming village on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, has become a favorite vacation spot to many people from all over the world. We have beautiful beaches, clean waves and a tropical climate. While many tourists come to enjoy the ‘jungle’ surroundings, practice yoga and relax, they never realize that tucked behind the beauty in Nosara hide small, poor schools that need our help.

Most of the schools in Nosara have bare-concrete floors. Some have hazardous wires, unfinished construction, and other dangers to the children. Some don’t even have a safe lunchroom for the kids to eat in. Most schools do not have a playground, not even a swing set. Students must share textbooks, or copy text from a chalkboard when there is only one book to share. Paper, notebooks, pens, pencils- basic school supplies that we take for granted are very precious in Nosara.

The Surfing Nosara Foundation was founded to help improve the public schools in Nosara, ‘one project at a time’. We help to fix hazardous electric wires, complete abandoned construction projects, and bring supplies to the schools. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of the children in Nosara. Thank you so much for your help!
